Purl Dive Waltz

Knit one, purl two

I sit in this dive and gaze at you

Longingly ‘til payment’s due

Then off I go...

Cast on, cast off

This dry Martini keeps me aloft

The lighting dim, the focus soft

Then down I go…

And I think what would be

If I found myself free

It would put you away from my eyes

Then it’s me without you

There’d be nothing to do

But pretend to go on with my life...

And go back to the yarn store dive.

Soft Merino wool

Its fibers spun for your loving soul

Our shelves were stocked, our bottles full

And off we went…

Skeins upon skeins

A kaleidoscope of color schemes

A velvet curtain shrouds a scene

From way back when…

Oh, we served and we sang

And the crowds, how they came

All the people from near and from far...

And as wishes come true

Like my chances with you

They were once upon only a star...

Now they’re here at the yarn store bar.

Woolen socks and gloves

A cashmere sweater hanging above

All the things your patrons love

Are on display...

Crafted with your hands

A love I’ve come to understand

How brief is life and time is sand

But there’s today...

So I’ve built you this place

A Victorian space

That belies its diminutive size

I am yours, you are mine

As we waltz three-four time

And I finally look into your eyes...

And say this is your yarn store dive…

Yes, this is our Purl Dive.
